What's Different About Inspecting a Haslet Home
Haslet has a foot in two worlds. On one side are the large-lot and acreage homes that made Haslet what it was: custom houses on an acre or more, some on private wells and septic systems, usually with a shop or barn out back. On the other are the newer subdivisions along the Alliance corridor, built from the mid-2000s to today, with new construction still going up.
On the acreage homes I’m looking at the systems a subdivision house doesn’t have — well equipment, septic, outbuildings and the wiring that runs to them — along with the age-related items: roofs, HVAC, water heaters, older electrical. On the newer homes it’s the builder details: grading and drainage around the slab, flashing, attic ventilation, and finish work that got rushed. Every Haslet home sits on the same expansive clay, so foundation performance and drainage get a careful look regardless of age.
What I Inspect
Every inspection meets or exceeds the Texas Real Estate Commission Standards of Practice and covers the visible and accessible condition of:
- Foundation and structure, including grading and drainage around the home
- Roof coverings, flashing, and attic ventilation
- Electrical systems, panels, and GFCI/AFCI protection
- Heating and cooling equipment, including each system in multi-zone homes
- Plumbing supply, drains, water heaters, and fixtures
- Interior and exterior components, windows, doors, and built-in appliances
